Sci-Fi Short 'TOUCH' Raises Provocative Questions About Tech's Complex Role In The Attainment Of Love And Desire. Starring Tanya Fear ( Kick-Ass 2)

At first glance, the short TOUCH doesn’t appear to be sci-fi, but the story of a burgeoning romance between individuals with haunted pasts.

Jessica (Tanya Fear, Kick Ass 2, Doctor Who) and George (Alexis Rodney) seem to be two people basking in the glow of new love.

George has retreated to a life in the countryside after the pressures of living a hollow urban existence lead him to make a failed suicide attempt.

While lost in contemplation in an expansive field of wildflowers, he meets the mysterious and eccentric Jessica. There is an instant attraction between the two and they agree to rendezvous at the field several times a week.

Soon after introducing Jessica and George, the short makes an unexpected tonal and thematic shift.

Revealing more story details would spoil the plot, but the narrative does take on a definite speculative spin.

Written and directed by Shola Amoo,TOUCH is a beautiful and provocative rumination on the visceral human need to pursue love - even if the means are ethically and morally questionable.

Cinematographer Jack Wilkinson uses the pastoral beauty of the short’s main locale to lend the film an almost hyper-real look that perfectly complements Jessica and George’s unusual courtship.

Tanya Fear turns in an elegant performance as the alluring Jessica, a woman trying to make sense of the world around her. Alexis Rodney brings George to life with a dynamic blend of quiet dignity and passion used to shield the soul of a person hurt by life’s vagaries.

Together, the two actors light up the screen with their sparkling chemistry and dramatic connection.
