What if our reality really is a computer simulation?

This possibility is explored in the sci-fi comedy short film UNTITLED EARTH SIM 64. In the film, Marie (Karen Olrich-White), a young British woman, copes with the mother of all existential crisis when she discovers life as we know it is a computer simulation.

While questioning her sanity after noticing “glitches” occurring in our reality, Marie begins hearing the voice of “the researcher” responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of our simulation.

And oh boy, does she have questions for him!

Written, directed, and produced by Jonathan Wilhelmsson, UNTITLED EARTH SIM 64 is a light-hearted riff on real-world scientific theories that postulate what we perceive as reality may be a computer simulation.

The short film complements its whimsical premise with stunning cinematography and eye-catching visual effects.

Wilhelmsson’s script and lead actor Olrich-White’s charming performance power this light-hearted sci-fi romp that asks if our reality is the product of a simulation, then why the hell is life so screwed up?

The answers are disarmingly honest and life-affirming, which offers a very refreshing breather from the onslaught of somber, cynical onscreen sci-fi narratives so that are pervasive.
