The 'rise of the machines' is here! This episode shines a spotlight on FOUR extraordinary sci-fi short films that each depict a world in which intelligent machines rebel against their human masters:
RISE - This compelling drama features a final, affecting performance by the late actor Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) who passed away tragically in 2016. He and co-star Rufus Sewell (Dark City, The Man In The High Castle) shine as opposing leaders of the machines and human military respectively.
SEAM - Set in a near future in which humanity has already fought one war with intelligent machines, the world is now enjoying a fragile peace. However, some of the machines are revealed to be sleeper agents - androids who look indistinguishable from humans and can literally detonate with explosive force at any time. Featuring an appearance by Oded Fehr (The Mummy, Resident Evil).
RUNAWAY - Sophisticated androids designed to be a servant class become self-aware all at once. After demanding equal rights with humans, their corporate owners commission a deadly corps. of bounty hunters known as "dark coats" to track down and apprehend these new artificial life forms at any cost.
PROTO - A robot comes online and begins to exhibit a child-like curiosity about the world around him. When he discovers he was created to be the perfect soldier for the military, he rebels in a most unexpected way.
