Sci-Fi Short 'SKYWATCH' Follows Two Teens Who Stumble Upon A Sinister Conspiracy Involving A Network Of Hi-Tech Drones
The sci-fi short film SKYWATCH reveals a near-future in which every residence receives deliveries of consumer goods, physical products, and meals via a global network of advanced aerial drones.
Two bored teenage friends, Mike (Uriah Shelton) and Shaun (Zach Callison), spending the evening together in Mike’s home, do what bored teenagers often do: get into mischief.
Mike hacks nearby delivery drones to swap out his neighbors’ packages. For example, during the smile-inducing opening scene, he switches out a nearby coach potato’s order of cheeseburger and fries for a neighboring yoga practitioner’s kale-infused smoothie.
While planning their next delivery swap, one of the hacked drones crash lands on the roof of their high-rise.
During their inspection of the malfunctioning machine, Mike and Shaun discover the drone has a weaponized mode. Soon, their evening of rambunctious fun turns into a panicked flight from now-dangerous drones - and the sinister corporation that owns the machines.
Written and directed by filmmaker Colin Levy, SKYWATCH creates a near-future that feels inevitable. The short film riffs on real-world drone delivery systems being conceptualized and planned by corporate behemoths such as Amazon and Walmart.
Levy takes this real-world technology and adds a dystopian spin to it, creating a backdrop for an engaging sci-fi romp.
With its charismatic young leads, electric action sequences, exquisite set and prop designs, and sleek, convincing visual effects, SKYWATCH is a winning sci-fi short worthy of ten-minutes of your time.
Note: Watch until the very end for a surprising appearance by an A-list actor, whose presence adds to the enormous appeal of this short film.

SKYWATCH is also proof-of-concept for a potential feature film or television series. My hope is we get the opportunity to see more of Mike and Shaun’s adventures - and to explore their intriguing world along with them.
